“Siz Türklere kompliman olsun diye söylemiyorum ama, çocuklarınızın hepsi güzeldir. Sadece güzel değil, aynı zamanda terbiyeli ve usludurlar. Gözlerinde Türk soyunun güzelliği ve gururu parlar. Gençken Türk çocukları beni sokaklarda ‘abla’ diye çağırırdı. Sonra ‘teyze’ oldum. Ancak birkaç sene önce bir delikanlı bana ‘nine’ deyince çok kırıldım. Çok Türk çocuğu tanıdım ve onlarla ilgili pek çok anım vardır.”Masala, bir gözlemini de şöyle aktarır:“Bir gün Ankara’da, Yenişehir sokaklarında oynayan bir çocuk grubu gördüm. O sırada bir askeri kamyon geçti. Çocuklar oyunu bırakıp dikkatle asker selamı verdi; askerler de büyük bir ciddiyetle onlara cevap verdi.”Yanında bulunan babası bu durumu şöyle değerlendirmiştir:“Türk milleti budur işte; bu sebeple Türkiye’nin ebedî olduğuna inanıyorum.”Masala ayrıca şunları ekler:“Ben bir Türkolog olarak yer kürenin pek çok coğrafyasına gittim. The children stopped playing and carefully gave a military salute; the soldiers responded with great seriousness.”Her father, who was with her, evaluated the situation as follows:“This is the Turkish nation; that is why I believe that Turkey is eternal.”Masala also adds:“As a Turkologist, I have traveled to many parts of the globe.
